Stefan H. E. Kaufmann

Stefan H.E. Kaufmann holds a PhD from the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. He is Founding Director of the Max Planck Institute of Infection Biology Berlin, Germany, where he directs the Department of Immunology. He is also honorary Professor at the Charité, Berlin, and Dr. honoris causa of the University Marseilles as well as member of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the German Academy of Natural Sciences, Leopoldina. He is one of the most cited immunologists. Previously, he was Chairman of the Department of Immunology at the University of Ulm, Germany. He is President of the European Federation of Immunological Societies and Incoming President of the International Union of Immunological Societies. Prof. Kaufmann has also been elected alternate Board Member of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) representing research and technological health institutes.
